Special Sights - Daejeon

It was pretty cold the day we went to the market, so Jiho tucked his Maltese, Sugar, inside his coat. Sugar had been shaved down, so he had little insulation against the winter wind.

Korean food never lacks for color or taste. There are various types of kimchee, soy beans, and other vegetables in the market displayed at just this one vendor's stall.

We saw this woman at the local farmer's market. Whether the cigarette butts on her leg are being used for medicinal or fortune telling reasons, it still looked yucky to me. The smoke left little gray spots on her shins.
This is a view of the sacred burial site just up the hill from the base apartments. The mounds are similar in size, and can be seen in other areas around Daejeon as Jiho drives us to run errands. Mushroom suggested that I not pass the entry to this site, guarded by two large trees down the hill. However, I went in as far as the first grave marker located in the right-center of this photo. I offered a warm Namaste to all of the spirits who may remain on this hillside.
